Objective 1: Students will become familiar with family vocabulary.

Objective 2: Students will feel confident in expressing things they can or cannot do relating to the home in full sentences.

Story Time: I Can Do It!

  • Take time to go through this book with the students. There is a lot in there - pause and see if they understand or if they have comments or other ways to cope with the difficulty presented.

Flashcards

  • Randomly hand out the flash cards facedown. Students must create a sentence with their word and another flash card word. The students who has the other word must make a new sentence with their word and another new one, etc.

Handout Week 1

  • Go around the room while students are doing the hand out to make sure they have understood the instructions. Interact individually.

  • Listening Script: My name is Alice and I have a big family. My mom’s name is Sue and her mom’s name is Jill. Jill’s husband who is my grandpa is named Tom. My dad’s name is Mark and his dad’s name is also Mark, sometimes it’s confusing. My grandma on my dad’s side is named Eva.
