Pets B (LPM)
5 min Hello Song (recommended for younger groups)
5 min Review Last Week
Take out the flashcards from the last session and see who remembers the words or phrases. Revise
10 min Story: (Book Link)
concentrate on encouraging repetition of your target words and or phrases. Give time for the children to see all of the details in the pictures. There is a lot of repetition with this - students really love reading this kind of book with the teacher. You can even practice the vocabulary with motions, have them stand up during the reading and while everyone reads they also do the motions for the animals. Ensure repetition of the key words. Have students read out loud and focus on the adjectives with the older groups.
15 min: Game
Having read through the story, introduce the flashcards one by one, displaying each one on the wall as it is introduced. Encourage the group to repeat the words several times as they are introduced. Play games with FCs to reinforce new vocabulary. Examples here.(link to Games) Act out an animal and ask the students, "What do you see?' The correctly responding student acts out the next animal, etc.
10 min: Song/ Extra Game
Sing the lesson song with younger / play another game with older
10 min Individual Activity
Each handout is age-specific, please ensure you use the handout that corresponds to your group. You may decide to use a handout aimed at a different age if your group is of a high level.
Explain the activity and do part or all of it as a group/class. Play "Listen and Point" - read the names of the seasons out loud and ask the children to point at the item that is relevant. Walk around room to see how the children are doing, help those that are struggling. Spend time with each child. Ask a question about the lesson or what they might be colouring. Encourage each child to either repeat vocabulary and sentences or to produce them independently, depending on their level.
