Vocabulary: dog, hamster, turtle, rabbit
cat, mouse, goldfish, parrot

Grammar : verb to have, can

Sentence: I have a black cat, she can turn; I have 2 hamsters


Objective 1: Students will begin to grasp animal vocabulary.

Objective 2: Students will feel familiar with animal vocabulary and begin to create sentences with have and can.

  • While reading the book, pause and see if students can name animals.

  • Make animal sound as you introduce flashcard

  • Game suggestion: Name that Sound

    • Make an animal noise and have students guess what animal you are. Have students take turns also.​

  • If appropriate, pick a student or two to sing each verse.
