Objective

Vocabulary: walk, run, hop, jump, play, turn around

Grammar : can; vowels / consonants

Sentence: I can jump like a cat....

 

Objective 1: Students will start to recognize action verbs related to the playground.

Objective 2: Students will build on understanding of verbs by using 'can + verb' in a sentence

  • Take time to look at the images on each page - see if students can name different objects - a tree, a ball, a bird, etc.

  • Play Simon Says with the new action verbs.

  • Definitely not a stationery song! - Get up and dance with the students. You can even turn it into a musical statues game.

  • Go over the pronunciation of keywords before singing the song.

  • Preteach ‘like a’.

  • Ask what each animal does and then ask if they can do it like that animal. Answers will be subjective.
