Around the House  (LP05)

Objective: To introduce students to prepositions of space, whilst exposing them to new but familiar vocabulary. To provide students with a framework to talk about their homes.

Target Vocabulary: house/home, kitchen, fridge, bathroom, sink, living room, television, T.V, dining room, slippers, garden, apartment, armchair, bath, bed, bedroom, bookcase, box, camera, chair, clock, computer, cupboard, desk, door, lamp, mirror, painting, sofa, tree, wall, window.

Progressive learning focus: Question words.

Target Grammar: Prepositions of space, There is/are. Is there/ are there.

Target Sentences: Where is the _______. It is in the ________. 

Lesson plan 

Warm up: Hello Song, Date & Weather 5 mins

Knowledge Activation: Review vocabulary from the previous lesson. 5 mins

Introduce Vocabulary: Flash Cards and Flash Card Games. Utilise extensive TPR and ensure whole class is participating.  15 mins

Introduce Grammar Structure: Guide students through the image with simple eliciting questions.  15 mins

Reading PT 1: 20 mins

  • Direct a reading through the book eliciting responses through comprehension questions focusing on inferring information from the texts and images.

  • Encourage students to use the prepositions of space. Use “Are there?/Is there?” For example- Is there a banana? Yes// There isn’t/ There is. Where is it? It is in the kitchen/fridge.

Cool down: Cool down: Goodbye song, wrap-up and review activities. 5 mins
