Weather and Seasons 2  (LPM)

5 min Greeting

Hello Song, Calendar, Rules, Colours, etc.

Spend some time asking BASIC QUESTIONS: How are you? How old are you? What's your name?

5 min Review last week

Take out the flashcards from the last session and see who remembers the words or phrases. If you gave homework - go through the work as a class. Try and get the children explain the kind of weather it is or how they feel, since they should have an idea of it from last week.

Reintroduce the Seasons flash cards (from the calendar) one by one displaying each one on the wall as it is introduced. Introduce the weather flashcards (from the  calendar one by one displaying them on the wall. Top tip! Encourage the children by allowing the ones that repeat the word correctly to stick it up on the wall/board. Encourage the group to repeat the words several times as they are reintroduced. Play games with FCs to reinforce new vocabulary. Examples here.

Ask the students what kind of weather we can find in which seasons? Demonstrate this by displaying the Seasons flashcards with the weather flashcards.

15 min BookBook link Before reading, revise the vocab using flashcards. Read through the book: Tidy by Emily Gravett. Show the children the cover and ask them what season it is in the book - use the flashcards to help if necessary. "Is it Winter? Is it Summer? Yes or No?"

This book focuses primarily around Autumn - speak to the children about Autumn, Autumn weather etc/ - hot/cold, leaves etc
